Play a Sport. Do Some Cardio

To look and feel great you need to engage your body in activity beyond just working out in the gym. I recommend playing a sport or doing some other cardio activity at least twice per week. Playing recreational sports has many benefits that lifting weights does not. Sports help train your reflexes, develop situational awareness, and hand-eye coordination, and help elevate your cardiovascular health. Aside from the physical benefits, another huge benefit of playing sports is the sense of community that it provides.

Getting good cardio every week has become second nature for me. As a former squash pro, I get a good session in twice per week at least. Squash is an excellent sport for cardio. There are squash courts available in most cities and large towns, with programs available at every skill level. Pickup basketball is also a great way to get cardio. But if you’re not into sports, most gyms offer spin classes or you could work the elliptical or treadmill. If you enjoy street running or hiking, both of those are great options. Swimming also provides excellent cardio.
